2006 February Sweeps February 21 Listings (Show titles in the larger size are the shows I recommend; reruns are not listed; all times are in the Mountain Time Zone) 7 PM: XX Olympic Winter Games (NBC; ends at 10:30 PM)-Figure skating: ladies short program; bobsled: women's gold medal final; speed skating: men's 1500m gold medal final; freestyle skiing: women's aerials. American Idol 5 (FOX; ends at 9 PM)-Of the 24 semifinalists chosen last week, the Top 12 girls will perform for America for the first time. Then its up to the viewers to vote for their favorites. I'm so glad that Taylor Hicks, the grey-haired guy, made it. As for the women, my favorite is Mandisa (she dropped her last name Hundley), the big girl who told Simon off when he made fun of her weight (I just love to root for the underdogs.) As for my local favorites...several people in the Top 24 came from the Denver auditions, but only one is actually from Denver (Bobby Bennett; Ace Young auditioned in Denver, and he grew up in Colorado, but he lives in Los Angeles.) Black Knight (UPN; ends at 9 PM)-2001 comedy starring Martin Lawrence. Final Destination 2 (WB; ends at 9 PM)-2003 horror movie starring Ali Larter and A.J. Cook. 7:30 PM: Rodney (ABC; ends at 8 PM) 8 PM: According to Jim (ABC; ends at 8:30 PM) Corals Casting Couch: A First Look at the Real World: Key West (MTV; ends at 8:30 PM)-Coral Smith (The Real World: Back to New York) hosts a discussion of the new season's Key West roommates with five Real World alumni. 9 PM: Boston Legal (ABC; ends at 10 PM)-While trying to woo her back, Shirley Schmidt's ex-husband, Ivan Tiggs (guest star Tom Selleck), wants her to be his best man at his upcoming wedding with an annoyingly perky woman. Meanwhile, Paul Lewiston's estranged daughter, Rachel (guest star Jayne Brook), who he claims blindly stole from him to feed her drug and alcohol habits, comes back into his life after seven years. Alan Shore defends a man who said he was only complying with his wife's wishes when he assisted in ending her life. 11 PM: The Shield (FX; ends at 12:06 AM)-While an ever weakening Claudette continues to interrogate murder suspect Kleavon Gardner (guest star Ray Campbell), the Strike Team joins forces with a citywide task-force chief to probe the murder of a meth dealer's girlfriend and her 2-year-old daughter. Meanwhile, Vic tells Becca about the $65,000 he gave Corinne; Kavanaugh questions Gardocki; and Aceveda offers Lem a deal. FOX football analyst Jimmy Johnson has a cameo as a prisoner. Watching/Recording Suggestions: At 7 PM, watch American Idol 5. At 9 PM, watch Boston Legal. At 11 PM, watch The Shield. Watch Corals Casting Couch: A First Look at the Real World: Key West when it repeats throughout the week on MTV. |
