2007 February Sweeps February 20 Listings (Show titles in the larger size are the shows I recommend; reruns are not listed; all times are in the Mountain Time Zone) 7 PM: “NCIS” (CBS; ends at 8 PM) “Dateline NBC” (NBC; ends at 8 PM) “American Idol 6” (FOX; ends at 9 PM)-Of the 24 semifinalists chosen last week, the Top 12 boys will perform for America for the first time. Then it’s up to the viewers to vote for their favorites. Who will survive and who will go home? My favorite so far is Sundance Head. “The Gilmore Girls” (CW; ends at 8 PM)-At a Friday night dinner, Lorelai works up the courage to tell her parents about the break-up of her marriage, but is derailed by their argument over the healthy meals and no-alcohol policy Emily has instituted to help Richard recover from his heart attack. Lorelai enlists Sookie to bring Richard healthy but delicious meals, then helps Emily organize Richard's business affairs. Over a shared bottle of scotch, Lorelai finally tells her mother about the breakup of her marriage. Rory attends an awkward birthday dinner for Logan with Mitchum Huntzberger (returning guest star Gregg Henry), who asks her to help him steer Logan in the right direction. Later, Logan receives disturbing news about the online company he purchased. Finally, Luke shares his home with Liz, T.J., and their baby daughter while their house is being fumigated. 8 PM: “Primetime Special” (ABC; ends at 9 PM) “The Unit” (CBS; ends at 9 PM)-The Unit competes against other elite military special forces from around the globe in counterterrorism games staged in Hamburg, Germany, to decide which team is the best, but the competition turns deadly when it becomes obvious that someone is seeking to use the games to engage in real terrorism. Meanwhile, Kim meets a former flame while on a business trip and learns that the man is now a multimillionaire and recently divorced. “Law & Order: Criminal Intent” (NBC; ends at 9 PM) “Veronica Mars” (CW; ends at 9 PM)-Without any evidence to hold her, Sheriff Lamb releases Veronica from jail. Josh (guest star Jonathan Chase), makes contact with Veronica and insists that he is being framed for his father's murder and, though Veronica has sympathy for him, she doesn't know if she believes him. Keith learns that the coach's wife, Kathleen Barry (guest star Tracey Needham), hired Vinnie Van Lowe (recurring guest star Ken Marino, "Reno 911") to find out if her husband was having an affair. Meanwhile, Logan joins Mac and Parker on a Valentine's Day scavenger hunt. “The Real Housewives of Orange County” (Bravo; ends at 9 PM)-As Jo mulls over starting a career in the entertainment industry, Lauri ponders whether to launch her own jewelry business. Meanwhile, a conflicted Kara deals with her boyfriend's imminent move to college; Lindsey throws a teen party; and Vicki tries to balance work and family time. “The Bad Girls Club” (Oxygen; ends at 8:30 PM)-Zara seeks revenge against Tomik when his romantic interest in her withers. In other events, DeAnn plunges into a tryst with Pool Boy Steve...then makes a crucial decision. “The Agency” (VH1; ends at 8:30 PM)-Series premiere. This reality series goes behind the scenes of the Wilhelmina modeling agency in New York City. First up: The high-end women's division is pressured to produce a promising young model for Fashion Week. 8:30 PM: “The Janice Dickinson Modeling Agency” (Oxygen; ends at 9:30 PM)-One female model ventures ever closer to getting axed. Meanwhile, a star male model might become the target of Janice's wrath over his relationship with a new client. 9 PM: “Boston Legal” (ABC; ends at 10 PM)-Alan Shore pulls double-duty in court, representing two separate clients...a woman who stole her late father's plastinized body from an art museum, and a cognitive therapist fired from his job at a hospital for imparting his belief in UFOs to his clients. Meanwhile, Clarence Bell is emotionally distracted by Claire Simm's invitation to dinner...and possibly more...at her house; Bethany Horowitz forces Denny Crane to attend temple with her; and Denise Bauer and Brad Chase continue to be at odds about the future...or lack thereof...of their relationship. “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit” (NBC; ends at 9 PM)-In a "ripped-from-the-headlines" episode, overzealous reporter Cindy Marino (guest star Kali Rocha, “Grey’s Anatomy”) accuses new mother Laura Kozowloski (guest star Ashley Williams) on national television of kidnapping and trying to kill her baby. That's the last straw for the despondent woman, who promptly commits suicide. Although everyone is under suspicion, including the mother and her ex-husband, Mike (guest star Pablo Schreiber), the case takes an unusual emotional toll on Detective Stabler, who is drawn in by the mother and her past. The search for the baby Kendall seems to be at a dead end...but DNA provides clues that help solve the case, and offer new questions for one of the detectives. 11 PM: “Dirt” (FX; ends at 12:04 AM)-As troubling questions about her father's suicide prevent Lucy from sleeping, Willa sets out to get the dirt on a B-list sitcom star (guest star Kristin Minter) who won't say whom she's marrying.
