2007 February Sweeps February 22 Listings (Show titles in the larger size are the shows I recommend; reruns are not listed; all times are in the Mountain Time Zone) 2:30 PM: “Juvies” (MTV; ends at 3:30 PM)-A teen caught shoplifting and a 13-year-old kleptomaniac serve time in juvenile detention. 6 PM: “Bling’d: Blood, Diamonds, and Hip” (VH1; ends at 7:30 PM)-Documentary special. Hip-hop artists Paul Wall, Raekwon, and Tego Calderón travel to Sierra Leone to learn about the diamond trade. Meanwhile, rappers including Kanye West and Jadakiss discuss "bling" culture and how it may be negatively affecting West Africans. 7 PM: “Survivor: Fiji” (CBS; ends at 8 PM)-A member of the Moto tribe experiences serious health problems and the Ravu team attempts to create a fire with a pair of eyeglasses. At tribal council, the third person is voted off of the islands. “My Name is Earl” (NBC; ends at 7:30 PM)-Joy’s pregnancy reminds Earl of the time she was pregnant with their child, or what he thought was their child. During Earl’s recollection of that troubling time in their marriage, he remembers how his father, Carl (recurring guest star, Beau Bridges), pushed him to stay with Joy regardless of whose child he was going to be taking care of. Looking back on it, Earl realizes that staying with Joy and the kids was the first good thing he did before he ever made the list. Montel Williams guest stars. “American Idol 6” (FOX; ends at 8 PM)-Results show. The 24 semifinalists performed for America this week, and the viewers have determined their fate. Tonight, four contestants...two males and two females...will go home, leaving 20 finalists vying for the "American Idol" crown. Who will make it through the first round of cuts? Except for my favorites, all of the others are faceless to me, so I have no idea will be going home. I'm a little worried about my favorite Sundance though. Wasn't Lakesha amazing? 7:30 PM: “The Office” (NBC; ends at 8 PM)-Michael and Jan go public with their relationship during a party at their CFO's home. At the party, Jim meets Karen's ex. Meanwhile, the rest of the office decides to go to happy hour for drinks. 8 PM: “Grey’s Anatomy” (ABC; ends at 9 PM)-Meredith's fight for life reverberates throughout the hospital in the conclusion of a three-part story arc. Elizabeth Reaser guest stars as a patient. I seriously doubt that they are going to kill off Meredith. Otherwise, what will the show be called...“Anatomy?” “C.S.I.: Crime Scene Investigation” (CBS; ends at 9 PM)-Grissom and his team are discouraged when they find a pool of blood as they begin investigating the disappearance of a high school basketball star named Ryan Lansco (Matt Lanter, "Shark," "Heroes") and his cheerleader girlfriend Megan Cooper (guest star Lyndsy Fonseca, "The Young and the Restless," "How I Met Your Mother.") Grissom's quip that the young lovers may have run off to Mexico is soon quashed by the discovery of drops of blood by Ryan's vacant parking spot at the school. After finding a letterman jacket and cheerleading sweater in the field house and a pool of Ryan's blood nearby, the team tries to determine what went awry. Tony Award nominee Valarie Pettiford (Fosse, "Half & Half") and Laura Harris ("Dead Like Me," "24") guest star, respectively, as the mother of the missing Megan's best friend and Ryan and Megan's photography teacher, Diane Kentner. “Scrubs” (NBC; ends at 8:30 PM)-J.D. falls for a sexy new physical therapist but because of his unfortunate circumstances he finds it difficult to ask her out. Meanwhile, Turk breaks his arm and Dr. Kelso sends him back to residency where, with the help of Dr. Cox, he realizes that he knows less about actual medicine than he thought he did. Elsewhere, Eliot invites Keith to move in with her, but isn't quite ready to compromise her house rules. All the while Carla provides each of the doctors with guidance while they get over their fear, ignorance, and stubbornness. Michael Weston (Garden State, The Last Kiss) guest stars. “The O.C.” (FOX; ends at 9 PM)-Series finale. Newport Beach has not been the same since the arrival of outsider Ryan Atwood from the other side of the tracks. In the series finale, bid the fondest of farewells and find out what happens to the Cohens, the Coopers, and Ryan and Taylor. I am truly going to miss this show. I thought that it was a snarkier version of FOX's "Beverly Hills, 90210," and I think that it is better than rival show "One Tree Hill" on the CW. I will miss the Sethisms, Chrismukkah, Ryan's tendency to punch people, Sandy's eyebrows, and more. Goodbye to the O.C., b***h! “Nashville Star 5” (USA; ends at 9 PM)-Last year's winner, Chris Young, performs. Also, judge Blake Shelton performs this time (I thought he was he was supposed to perform last week...but whatever.) I'm still rooting for Zac Hacker! 8:30 PM: “30 Rock” (NBC; ends at 9 PM)-When Josh’s contract is up, Jack sees an opportunity ripe for cost-cutting. While Liz tries to keep Josh in the "TGS" cast and from jumping to a rival show, Tracy awards Kenneth the Page a coveted spot in his entourage. Meanwhile, Jenna gets into some hot water over a misquote in a popular magazine. With special guest stars Chris Matthews and Tucker Carlson. 9 PM: “The Oprah Winfrey Oscar Special” (ABC; ends at 10 PM)-Special. Oscar winners interview Oscar winners: Julia Roberts questions George Clooney at his Los Angeles home; Nicole Kidman and Russell Crowe meet at the Beverly Hills Hotel and interview each other; and Jamie Foxx interviews Sidney Poitier on the stage of the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium in California, where Poitier received his Oscar for 1963's Lilies of the Field. “Shark” (CBS; ends at 10 PM)-Sebastian puts his own legal career on the line by submitting to his long-time friend's pleas not to alert the police that the friend found the body of one of his firm's interns where his firm's party had just taken place. Sebastian is shocked when his friend, Christian Chambers (Gary Cole, "The West Wing"), the head of a successful business management firm who has been friends with Sebastian for more than 25 years, summons him to the hotel suite where his firm partied earlier that night, shows him the body of one of his firm's female interns, and begs him to help keep the mysterious death from turning into a scandal that would financially ruin his firm. As payback for a huge former favor, Sebastian eventually counsels Christian to leave the hotel unnoticed, hire a lawyer and let the housecleaning staff discover the body. Sebastian regrets this decision more than ever when the body is found in a ravine the next morning and he is forced to keep his knowledge of the case a secret from his team when it's assigned to them. Meanwhile, Julie gets Isaac to get her out of jail when she is arrested for drunk driving and continues to keep Sebastian in the dark about her illegal transgression. “E.R.” (NBC; ends at 10 PM)-Abby and Pratt quickly try to save a family suffering from frostbite after getting stuck in the snow. Neela gets jealous when Dr. Dubenko brings in a new surgical intern. Meanwhile, Gates struggles with the reappearance of his dad (guest star Stacy Keach) and the possibility of losing Sarah. 11:30 PM: “The Sarah Silverman Program” (Comedy Central; ends at Midnight)-Sarah mentors a beauty-pageant contestant.
