2006 May Sweeps May 24 Listings (Show titles in the larger size are the shows I recommend; reruns are not listed; all times are in the Mountain Time Zone) 7 PM: “Dr. Phil Primetime Special: Escaping Addiction II” (CBS; ends at 8 PM)-Special. “Dateline NBC” (NBC; ends at 8 PM) “American Idol 5” (FOX; ends at 9 PM)-Two-hour season finale. Either Taylor Hicks or Katharine McPhee will find out who is the winner of the title of American Idol. Are you a member of the Soul Patrol...or do you have the McPheever? I personally want the grey-haired old man to win, and the stats indicate that he will win (he's never been in the Bottom Two.) To fill the two-hour finale, which is exactly 5 minutes of real content preceded by one hour and 55 minutes of filler, they are having Taylor and Katharine sing with some special guests, along with some of the previous rejects singing with other guest singers. Go Taylor! Hair Show (UPN; ends at 9 PM)-2004 comedy starring Mo'Nique, Kellita Smith, Gina Torres, David Ramsey, and Taraji P. Henson. Daredevil (WB; ends at 9 PM)-2003 comic book action movie Ben Affleck, Jennifer Garner, Colin Farrell, Michael Clarke Duncan, and Jon Favreau. “Heavy: The Story of Metal” (VH1; ends at 8 PM)-Special; part 3 of 4. The segment "Looks That Kill" sees metal thrive in, of all places, sunny California. Quiet Riot, Motley Crue...it's the world of metal on the sunset strip. Plus, keeping everyone's Jacuzzi-soaked ego in check, a little film called Spinal Tap emerges. 8 PM: “Lost” (ABC; ends at 10 PM)-Two-hour season finale. After discovering something odd just offshore, Jack and Sayid come up with a plan to confront "The Others" and hopefully get Walt back. Meanwhile, Eko and Locke come to blows as Locke makes a potentially cataclysmic decision regarding the "button" and the hatch. Will we finally have an answer about the 108-minute clock? Will Michael be exposed for killing Anna Lucia and Libby? Will he get Walt back? Will the end be more satisfying than it was last season? Tune in and get lost! 9 PM: “Top Chef” (Bravo; ends at 9 PM)-Season finale. The winning cook is crowned in the conclusion of the two-part first-season finale, which features actress Lorraine Bracco as a guest judge. Prizes include $100,000 to help launch a culinary career. Watching/Recording Suggestions: At 7 PM, watch “American Idol 5.” At 8 PM, watch the rest of “American Idol 5;” record “Lost” on TiVo, and “American Idol 5” on VCR 2. At 9 PM, watch “Top Chef;” record the rest of “Lost” on TiVo. At 10 PM, watch “Heavy: The Story of Metal” when it repeats at this time on VH1. |
