2006 May Sweeps May 4 Listings (Show titles in the larger size are the shows I recommend; reruns are not listed; all times are in the Mountain Time Zone) 7 PM: “American Inventor” (ABC; ends at 8 PM)-Peter Jones, one of the expert judges, will mentor three inventors and guide them through the process of working with product designers, packaging companies, marketing executives, and product testing. In an ultimate challenge, the inventors will have their new and improved product tested to see if it delivers, and Peter will face the difficult decision of choosing one of his three to move on to the final round. “Survivor: Panama” (CBS; ends at 8 PM)-The final five castaways compete for time with their loved ones; one contestant (Terry) needs to continue his winning streak to ensure his safety in the game. “Will & Grace” (NBC; ends at 7:30 PM)-Will and Grace begin attending childbirth classes in preparation for the baby, but as Will and Vince (recurring guest star Bobby Cannavale) take another chance at their relationship together, Grace starts to doubt whether Will is up for raising a child with her. Meanwhile, Karen looks to Jack for comfort as her marriage with Stan hits a bumpy road but finds that Jack is a little preoccupied with his new television show. “That ‘70s Show” (FOX; ends at 7:30 PM)-At Hyde’s rocker bonfire, Jackie tries to win Fez’s heart by bonding over their shared love for disco, but even though Fez leaves a make-out session with a girl to help Jackie prevent the disco inferno, it will take more than music to make him realize they are meant for each other. Meanwhile, Kitty and Red learn that their new neighbors (guest stars Christopher Knight and Barry Williams, “The Brady Bunch”) are gay, but it’s not their lifestyle that Red disagrees with. “Everybody Hates Chris” (UPN; ends at 7:30 PM)-Chris runs into the law when he looks to the Bed-Stuy crooks for cookie-selling tips; Drew and Tanya are afflicted with chicken pox. “Smallville” (WB; ends at 8 PM)-Clark is stunned when he sees his father's ghost (former cast mate John Schneider) at the graveyard, but becomes even more confused after Jonathan tells him he must kill Lionel. Meanwhile, Lex develops a vaccine for Fine's (recurring guest star James Marsters) deadly virus, but Fine intervenes and injects him with the vaccine, which causes a shocking reaction in Lex. 7:30 PM: “That ‘70s Show” (FOX; ends at 8 PM)-Fez’s lifestyle as a ladies’ man tortures Jackie until he decides to settle down with one woman...crazy Caroline (guest star Allison Munn)...which forces Jackie to confess her love for him. Will Fez reciprocate her feelings? Meanwhile, Hyde convinces Red to sell his heart medication. “Love, Inc.” (UPN; ends at 8 PM) 8 PM: “American Inventor” (ABC; ends at 9 PM)-It's Doug Hall's turn in this second hour. “C.S.I.: Crime Scene Investigation” (CBS; ends at 9 PM)-The C.S.I.'s must look beneath the surface to uncover the true story behind the death of a high-stakes gambler and ladies man. As the C.S.I.'s work the case, they uncover evidence that reveals the victim may have been an unwitting participant in his own fantasy, which was created in order for him to live out the weekend of his dreams. However, when fantasy clashed with reality, things went horribly awry. Judd Nelson guest stars as Mick Logan, a Hollywood movie executive. “My Name is Earl” (NBC; ends at 8:30 PM)-Earl sets out to make up for number 147 on his list, "shot Gwen Waters (guest star Miriam Shor) with a BB gun." To do so, Earl must reunite Gwen with her estranged father. Getting the father to cooperate proves incredibly difficult, but Earl refuses to give up, in part, because Earl remembers why he used to have a crush on Gwen Waters. He always liked to see her smile. “The O.C.” (FOX; ends at 9 PM)-Ryan, dealing with the repercussions from prom night, must make a deal with Volchok. Even though Sandy is chosen as “Man of the Year,” the D.A. continues his investigation of Sandy’s unique involvement with the new hospital. After she receives a call for help from Kaitlin, Marissa pays her little sister a visit at boarding school. Ryan’s bloodied hands force Theresa to make a difficult decision once and for all. Meanwhile, Seth’s actions ignite more troubles in Newport. “Eve” (UPN; ends at 8:30 PM) “Supernatural” (WB; ends at 9 PM)-Season finale. On a mission to save their father from Meg (recurring guest star Nicki Aycox), Sam and Dean seek help from an old family friend, Bobby (guest star Jim Beaver.) When Meg shows up on Bobby's doorstep, the brothers lure her into a trap and exorcise the demon from her body after learning where John is being held prisoner. While trying to rescue John, the demon shows up and a full battle ensues between the Winchesters and the demon they have been searching for all their lives. 8:30 PM: “The Office” (NBC; ends at 9 PM)-When Michael takes over conflict resolution duties from HR, chaos ensues at Dunder Mifflin. “Cuts” (UPN; ends at 9 PM)-A jeweler's mistake puts Kevin in a tight spot and forces him to make an important decision; Tiffany questions her relationship with Jeremy. 9 PM: “Primetime Thursday” (ABC; ends at 10 PM) “Without a Trace” (CBS; ends at 10 PM)-The team searches for a recent widower and his two teenagers and tries to figure out who is responsible for a blood-spattered living room. “E.R.” (NBC; ends at 10 PM)-Dr. Pratt settles into his new job in Darfur but is troubled by the astounding number of people needing care. A sheik and his pregnant wife come into Ramalah Camp looking for treatment. Carter (former cast member Noah Wyle) and Dakarai (guest star Eamonn Walker) work on fixing the man's gunshot wound, but they are quickly interrupted by government officials trying to arrest the man. As Carter works on delivering the wife's baby, it is apparent that the mother is suffering from delivery complications. Pratt and Dakarai are forced to make journey at night to a hospital in El Fashir at the risk of getting stopped by the Janjaweed millitant group. Meanwhile, Debbie (guest star Mary McCormack) tries to convince Dr. Dakarai to seek proper treatment for his medical condition. 11:30 PM: “The Showbiz Show with David Spade” (Comedy Central; ends at Midnight)- Watching/Recording Suggestions: At 7 PM, watch “Survivor: Panama;” record “Will & Grace” on TiVo, “American Inventor” on VCR 1, the two episodes of “That ‘70s Show” on VCR 2, “Smallville” on VCR 3, and “Everybody Hates Chris” on VCR 4.
