Pirates of the Caribbean 2: Dead Man's Chest has broken online ticket retailer Fandango's record for most tickets sold the day before an opening. The company is reporting average sales of seven tickets per second.

U.S. District Judge Richard P. Matsch made a decision Thursday in Denver ordering the companies named in the suit, including CleanFlicks, Play It Clean Video, and CleanFilms, to stop "producing, manufacturing, creating" and renting edited movies, citing that it violates federal copyright laws. The businesses also must turn over their inventory to the movie studios within five days of the ruling.

Film critic Roger Ebert's wife reported he was doing well after an emergency operation to repair complications from a previous cancer surgery. Ebert, famous for his "thumbs up" or "thumbs down" critiques, was in serious but stable condition Monday at the Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago.

Angela Borlaza, a woman who was Marlon Brando's caregiver, companion, and self-described "major domo" of the household in the last years of his life, has sued his executors, claiming she is a victim of fraud, deceit, and a broken oral contract with the actor to give her a house.

Michael Douglas has settled his lawsuit against Family Television Studios, Inc. and Paradigm Media Group, L.L.C., two Florida companies that he alleged improperly used his name and image to promote their own products and services. The sealed settlement was agreed to last month, and the case was formally closed June 27, according to federal court records.

Acclaimed Nine Queens director Fabian Bielinsky has died at the age of 47. The Argentine filmmaker died of a suspected heart attack on Wednesday, June 28 in a Sao Paolo hotel room, reports the Argentine consulate. He was reportedly in Brazil working on a new project.
