Lindsay Lohan's parent Dina and Michael say they will settle their long-simmering divorce within the next week, announcing after an hour-long closed-door hearing on Long Island Friday that there are only a few "minor points" left to determine, but that they will be resolved prior to their next scheduled court date on Aug. 17. Anne Hathaway has joined the ensemble cast of Jonathan Demme's dark comedy Dancing With Shiva, per the Hollywood Reporter. Hathaway plays a rehab-frequenting ex-model who comes home to stay with her mother, played by Deborah Winger, on the eve of her sister's wedding. Cameras roll next month.
Brad Pitt showed up for jury duty in Los Angeles Superior Court Thursday, per TMZ, though was dismissed after several hours.
Salma Hayek is set to star in and produce an as yet untitled Disney comedy following a conservative and, as it happens, insecure doctor who learns the ex-boyfriend of his fiancée (Hayek) is an international Latin superstar who has come to L.A. to attempt to win her back.
After more than seven years of legal wrangling, a settlement has been made in the star-studded bankruptcy case of money manager Dana Giacchetto, who was found to have taken money from the accounts of his so-called regular clients in order to give excessive returns to his more camera-friendly ones, including Courteney Cox, Cameron Diaz, Tobey Maguire, and Rick
Yorn. The outstanding claims against the bankruptcy filing were in excess of $3 million.
Alec Baldwin has signed on to star alongside Kate Hudson and Dane Cook in the big screen comedy Bachelor No. 2., per the Hollywood Reporter. The flick centers on a guy who's hired to take girls on bad dates so they go crawling back to the boyfriends they recently dumped, only to fall for his best friend's ex when asked to show her a horrible time.
The theatrical release of Shine a Light, Martin Scorsese's documentary on the Rolling Stones, has been pushed back by roughly seven months, with a new arrival date set for April 2008. With the band touring Europe through the end of August, Paramount Classics postponed the release to allow more time for a promotional campaign.
Chris Noth will reprise his role as Mr. Big for the long-anticipated "Sex and the City" movie, per Variety.
Fox Searchlight has announced that the role of the Notorious B.I.G. in Notorious, a long-in-the-works biopic of the late rapper, will be filled through a nationwide open casting call, with Christopher Wallace look-alikes being asked to submit audition videos beginning this Sunday to Biggiecasting.com.

The stars of Charlton Heston, Cary Grant, Clark Gable, Donna Reed, Frank Sinatra, and 55 other classic luminaries have been temporarily removed from the Hollywood Walk of Fame to allow construction to commence on a $500 million luxury project on the famed corner of Hollywood and Vine.
Despite a less than glowing critical but decent commercial reception at the box office the first time around, a crop of comedy heavyweights have signed on to join Steve Martin in a sequel to his Pink Panther remake, The Pink Panther 2. John Cleese, Alfred Molina, Andy Garcia, and India's finest Aishwarya Rai have all joined the cast, per Variety,
with Emily Mortimer and Jean Reno set to reprise their roles. The Beyoncé-less sequel is due out Feb. 13, 2009.
Jessica Alba will team up with Mike Myers for the big screen comedy The Love Guru, centering on an American who was orphaned in India and subsequently raised by gurus, who is now seeking fame and fortune in the U.S. as a spiritual advisor, per the trades. Mini-Me Verne Troyer is also set for a mini-reunion with Myers in the flick,
the comedian's first original character since Austin Powers.
Politically leaning thespian Leonardo DiCaprio said he's "still on the fence" about whom to support as he has yet to hear from a candidate "that has clearly laid out their environmental policy in a way that is inspiring to me." |

Helena Bonham Carter and her longtime director beau Tim Burton are expecting their second child together this December, per People. The couple already has a three-year-old son together, Billy Raymond. There's no word yet on the sex of the baby. |

An autopsy was performed Tuesday on Jacob Adams, the 40-year-old caretaker who was found dead last week at the Brentwood home of Ving Rhames, but the results have been deferred pending further tests. Reports initially pegged his death as the result of a dog mauling, as he was found with bite marks on his body, though authorities haven't ruled out a heart attack or preexisting medical
condition. Samantha Morton and fiancé Harry Holm are expecting their first child together in January, the actress' publicist confirmed. The 30-year-old Minority Report star already has a seven-year-old daughter, Esme, from a previous relationship.
A number of major movie theater chains in India refused to screen The Simpsons Movie over the weekend after clashing with the film's distributor, Warner Bros. India, over the number of showings per day the movie would get in the theaters, with local chains looking to give equal time to newly released Indian productions. The boycott also led to several chains to briefly pull Warner
Bros.' Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, though both films are due to resume screenings today.
Oscar winner Sydney Pollack has pulled out of directing Recount, a political drama set to begin production next month, after falling ill from unspecified "medical issues." The filmmaker's rep, Leslie Dart, said the star is "not feeling well right now. It would be unrealistic for him to go into production right away." Meet the Parents' Jay Roach will replace Pollack on the project.

According to a new Forbes list of Hollywood heavyweights, Bourne Ultimatum star Matt Damon brought in $29 of gross income for every dollar he was paid for his last three roles. Brad Pitt came in second on the list with a gross income return of $24 for every dollar of his pay and Vince Vaughn and Johnny Depp tied for third with $21.
Chris Rock and his wife Malaak said Monday that DNA testing had established the comic was not the father of the 13-year-old son of a woman with whom he was once involved. Kali Bowyer filed a paternity claim against the actor in March, but acknowledged she was not entirely certain he was the father. "After multiple lies, including that Chris refused to establish
paternity and after finding out that Ms. Bowyer has an extensive criminal record, we personally asked the court to help us establish paternity so that we could put this harassment to rest," the couple said in a statement.
Michelle Pfeiffer received the 2,345th star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame Monday, four days before the release of her latest film, Stardust. "There are so many people that go into the making of an actor's career, and first and foremost I want to thank my mother," the actress said. Pfeiffer can currently be seen in Hairspray and also stars in the
upcoming I Could Never Be Your Woman.
