2006 November Sweeps November 9 Listings (Show titles in the larger size are the shows I recommend; reruns are not listed; all times are in the Mountain Time Zone) 7 PM: “Ugly Betty” (ABC; ends at 8 PM)-Betty is asked to review a fancy hotel; Wilhelmina covets advertising dollars from a wealthy Texan (guest star Brett Cullen); and Sofia (guest star Salma Hayek) and her entourage throw their weight around, much to Daniel's chagrin. “Survivor: Cook Islands” (CBS; ends at 8 PM)-The castaways are given the chance to declare mutiny and join the other tribe. At tribal council, the ninth player is voted off of the islands. “My Name is Earl” (NBC; ends at 7:30 PM)-Bored with her life, Catalina offers to help Earl take care of number 75 on his list by cleaning out a mailbox that he once used as a trash can. Catalina discovers an undelivered letter stuck at the bottom, and Earl is determined to find its rightful owner. Turns out it’s a long lost love letter from trailer park resident Will (guest star Johnny Sneed) to his former gym co-worker Wendy (guest star Jenny McCarthy.) Earl agrees to keep an eye on Wendy while Will gets back into shape for her. Meanwhile, Joy kicks Darnell out after discovering he’s in the witness protection program. “‘Til Death” (FOX; ends at 7:30 PM)-Jeff is thrilled when his mother (guest star Miriam Flynn) comes for a visit, but tension builds between him and Steph when he chooses his mother over her. Jeff goes to his neighbors for help, but ends up more conflicted than ever. Between Joy insisting he send his mom home and Eddie instructing him to secretly make his mom No. 1, Jeff must learn the delicate art of balancing the women in his life. “Smallville” (CW; ends at 8 PM)-Clark discovers the Green Arrow (recurring guest star Justin Hartley) was shot while trying to save a couple from a carjacking, but Oliver denies he was injured. However, when Oliver starts displaying erratic behavior, Clark and Chloe investigate and discover he is taking a super-drug that causes his body to heal itself but has severe side effects. Meanwhile, Lana makes a shocking discovery that will impact her relationship with Lex. 7:30 PM: “The Office” (NBC; ends at 8 PM)-When Jan tells Michael that the Scranton Branch will be shutting down, Michael strives to keep his staff's spirits up. Meanwhile, everyone privately begins to envision how their lives will change in the aftermath. 8 PM: “Grey’s Anatomy” (ABC; ends at 9 PM)-The men of Seattle Grace go on a camping trip together; Addison and Callie team up on a case; Meredith assists Mark Sloan with a procedure unlike any she has experienced; and Bailey confronts Cristina on her recent actions at the hospital. “C.S.I.: Crime Scene Investigation” (CBS; ends at 9 PM)-After a woman dying of cancer is murdered in her home, the killer later returns to leave a miniature exact replica of the crime scene. It's similar to the one found at the murder scene of a slain rock star weeks before, indicating that a serial killer is at work. In court, Greg testifies at an inquest held to determine his culpability in the death of a teenager he accidentally killed. “Deal or No Deal” (NBC; ends at 9 PM)-Tonight, Miles McIntosh of Philadelphia returns to finish his game and feisty Chariton, Iowa grandmother Myra Laing is reunited with her family as she plays for the top prize of $1 million. “The O.C.” (FOX; ends at 9 PM)-It’s Thanksgiving morning at the Cohen house and the family is still dealing with what happened in Mexico. Sandy makes a deal to help Volchok but lets Ryan intervene and finally settle the score. As Summer packs to come home to be with her family and Seth, she wonders if she can deal with Newport. Meanwhile, Julie can’t deal with Kaitlin or Dr. Roberts and finds herself alone for most of Thanksgiving. “Supernatural” (CW; ends at 9 PM)-Sam and Dean investigate the murders of a lawyer and his wife who claimed to have seen a ghost right before they died. However, after local detectives Ballard (guest star Linda Blair) and Sheridan (guest star Jason Gedrick) uncover the Winchesters' records, they arrest the brothers for a double homicide before they are able to find the ghost. When the ghost begins to visit Ballard, she begins to wonder if the tale Sam and Dean are telling her could be true, and if she might be the next to die. 8:30 PM: “Rob & Big” (MTV; ends at 9 PM)-Rob tries to persuade Big and bulldog Meaty to get on a skateboard, with mixed results. Later, Rob and Big get pulled over for "ridin' dirty." 9 PM: “Shark” (CBS; ends at 10 PM)-An 8-year-old girl is kidnapped from a park and murdered, and Sebastian believes the case is linked to a similar crime committed in 1991. In that case, a man Sebastian defended was convicted of the murder and the prosecutor in the trial was Jessica. Also, a young man tells Julie he believes his late father and her mother had an affair. “E.R.” (NBC; ends at 10 PM)-Abby and Kovac finally decide to hire a nanny to care for their son Joe, but are troubled when they meet the potential candidates. Morris and Sam try to treat a biligerant patient that comes in with seemingly simple flu. However, when they discover that his condition is much more complicated, the patient refuses treatment. During a trip to the park with Joe, Abby inadvertantly meets Curtis Ames (guest star Forest Whitaker.) Meanwhile, Gates and Neela argue with each other at a hospital board meeting. 11:30 PM: “Freak Show” (Comedy Central; ends at Midnight)-Part 1 of 2. The Hartsdales agree to have Primi circumcised while performing in a largely Jewish community.
